Our mission to connect people everywhere relies on physical assets such as our international cable networks. Technological change, along with shifts in geopolitics, weather patterns and societal expectations, creates risk. In response, we take a robust, multi-pronged approach to bolstering security and managing risk in these systems.
Safeguarding connectivity
As a pivotal global infrastructure provider, reducing risk in our cable networks is imperative. We're working with partners to implement stronger systems and diversify cable routes. We combine these defences with robust disaster recovery processes and Vodafone Foundation's Instant Network emergency response solution. This approach aims to minimise loss of essential telecommunication services, even during crises such as the recent adverse weather events in Europe.
Tackling crime
Vandalism and theft of our equipment can hinder our network provision and significantly impact customer service.
Vodacom has implemented advanced surveillance systems and is working with private security companies to manage the risks and mitigate the impacts of these crimes.
In the UK, the Corporate Security team’s introduction of IoT trackers has led to a 100% success rate in catching people who’ve stolen specialist equipment, resulting in £1.7 million of stock reclaimed.
