Our impacts intro

We focus on the most salient human rights issues which could arise from our operations.

We have established policies, governance and due diligence processes to avoid, reduce and mitigate potential and actual human rights impacts.


Freedom of expression and privacy

Our most salient human rights risks relate to people’s rights to privacy and freedom of expression. Our commitment to our customers’ privacy goes beyond legal compliance. We are focused on building a culture that respects the right to privacy to justify the trust that people place in us. We always seek to respect our customers’ lawful rights to hold and express opinions and share information and ideas without interference.


Child rights and online safety

We recognise that children can be a particularly vulnerable group in today’s digital world. We are committed to upholding the rights of the child at all stages of our business operations and seek to support children and their parents to become responsible digital citizens. We will continue to provide the knowledge, tools, controls and resources to help our customers keep pace with the rapid advances in technology, devices, apps and the ways these technologies are used.


Responsible sourcing of minerals

We recognise the risks associated with the sourcing of certain minerals used throughout the global electronics industry. We believe in supporting the responsible sourcing of minerals globally. Although, we do not source minerals ourselves, we follow the best practice of the OECD Due Diligence Guidance to understand whether our manufactured products include minerals which have been sourced from smelters taking a responsible approach to sourcing.


Labour rights

We are committed to respecting the rights of our employees and people working in our supply chain. We will not tolerate any human rights abuses within our own operations or within our supply chain and are committed to taking appropriate steps to ensure that everyone who works for Vodafone – in any capacity, anywhere in the world – benefits from a working environment in which their fundamental rights are respected.
