Vodafone Business and Elisa support sustainable stainless-steel provider Outokumpu

Vodafone Business is supporting Finnish telco and digital service provider Elisa in offering global internet and network management services to Outokumpu, a global leader in sustainable stainless steel.

Working closely with Vodafone Business, Elisa will monitor and manage the data traffic across Outokumpu’s network at both a local and global level, linking its operations which span five continents. This builds on the software-driven data network solution (SD-WAN) that Elisa delivered to Outokumpu last year.

Elisa and Vodafone Business will oversee network modifications and any required fault repairs to guarantee that the critical connections supporting Outokumpu’s manufacturing sites remain secure and consistently high performing.

Strong partnership

The network service solution deployed by Elisa is founded on sophisticated network automation and a robust network architecture. By complementing its network operations with Vodafone Business's extensive reach, Elisa will migrate Outokumpu locations globally to the new secure internet-based network to simplify management and enhance performance and agility.

Outokumpu employs approximately 8,700 people and operates steel mills in Finland, Germany, Mexico, Sweden, and the United States. The company manufactures products using 95% recycled raw materials and is increasingly leveraging digital communications to enhance its commitment to sustainable solutions. Outokumpu’s 100% recyclable stainless steel is used to build bridges and buildings, produce cars, trains and trucks, and manufacture household appliances and utensils.
