88/100 score places Vodafone in top 1% of all companies assessed – above global industry average
Vodafone has achieved a Platinum medal from EcoVadis for the third successive year. Scoring 88/100, Vodafone ranks above the average for telecommunication companies globally and in the top 1% of all assessed companies.
EcoVadis is recognised globally as a leading independent assessor for sustainability performance across environmental, social and governance (ESG). The assessment scores four themes: environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. It reviews an organisation’s policies, endorsements, certifications, and reporting in each area.
Vodafone has improved its overall EcoVadis score for four consecutive years, rising from 80/100 in 2023 to 88/100 in 2026 based on performance and reporting as determined by the EcoVadis methodology.
Investing in people and skills
The improvement in Vodafone’s Labour and Human Rights score reflects its continued investment in employee development, career planning, internal mobility, skills and wellbeing.
During FY26, Vodafone continued to invest in skills aligned with its business strategy, including customer experience, operational excellence and artificial intelligence. Our development programmes include Leadership Essentials, which supports leaders through dedicated Licence to Hire, Licence to Lead and Licence to Coach programmes.
Vodafone also continued to support internal and international career mobility. Employees are given opportunities to participate in cross-functional or international projects, share expertise across Vodafone markets and build new capabilities and experience.
Employee wellbeing also remained an integral part of our approach. The company provides programmes supporting physical and mental health, financial wellbeing and work-life balance, alongside its global commitment to providing a safe and healthy environment for employees, contractors and partners.
Strengthening responsible supply chains
Vodafone’s Sustainable Procurement score increased following further development of its supplier assessment, audit, training and sustainability programmes.
Vodafone works with more than 8,500 suppliers, ranging from start-ups and small businesses to large multinational companies. Environmental, social and governance criteria are included in tendering, supplier selection and performance management, supported by supplier assessments, audits, performance reviews and collaboration through the Joint Alliance for CSR.
In FY26, Vodafone further strengthened its supply-chain due-diligence programme through a more systematic, risk-based approach. Audit coverage expanded to approximately four times its FY25 level, focusing attention on higher-risk suppliers, categories and locations. Findings were followed by structured corrective action plans and supplier performance management.
More than 238 suppliers were onboarded to Vodafone’s ESG performance-management system during FY26, covering over half of its global procurement expenditure. Vodafone also assessed strategic suppliers through independent partner development tools and audits to gain more direct insight into working conditions and supplier management practices.
We completed 21 detailed supplier audits across Africa, Asia and Europe, including audits of Tier 2 suppliers and Vodacom-specific suppliers. This led to us issuing 72 corrective action plans relating to human rights concerns, with identified issues managed through corrective actions agreed with suppliers and independent auditors.
Our anonymous Speak Up mechanism is also available to workers in Vodafone’s supply chain.
Progressing Vodafone’s climate transition
Vodafone continued to implement its Climate Transition Plan, which sets out actions for FY25 to FY27 to reduce emissions, manage climate-related risks and support its longer-term net-zero ambitions.
In FY26, Vodafone matched 100 per cent of the grid electricity purchased and used in its global operations with electricity added to the grid from renewable sources, rounded to the nearest whole percentage point. Less than 0.2 per cent was not matched because suitable purchasing mechanisms were unavailable in those locations.
Scope 1 and 2 market-based greenhouse-gas emissions were 85 per cent lower than Vodafone’s FY20 baseline. Scope 3 emissions fell by 11 per cent year on year to 6.11 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent, representing an 18 per cent reduction from FY20.
Maintaining trust through strong security governance
Vodafone’s approach to ethics is underpinned by governance, risk management, training and independently audited information-security controls.
Cyber security remains a Board-level priority. Vodafone has an in-house global cyber team of more than 900 employees and operates a common security model across its European and African markets. Its Governance, Risk and Control team sets policies and standards, measures cyber risk and manages information-security certifications.
Vodafone maintains externally audited ISO 27001 information-security certifications covering its global technology function and 11 local markets. The certification provides a framework for identifying security risks and protecting the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information through documented, regularly audited controls.
VodafoneThree achieved its first joint ISO 27001 certification in 2026, following 84 audit sessions involving nine functions, 63 teams and 200 people. Vodafone also successfully passed its UK Cyber Essentials Plus audit on 27 February 2026. The certification covers Vodafone UK’s End User Compute network and tests controls including secure configuration, security updates, access control and malware protection.
Vodafone continues to reinforce these controls through mandatory cyber-security training, quarterly phishing simulations, independent penetration testing and regular internal and external audits. Across the Group, Vodafone completes more than 1,000 penetration tests every year.
Together, these programmes demonstrate Vodafone’s continued work to strengthen its sustainability performance, support its people, manage risks across its supply chain, reduce its environmental impact and maintain the trust of customers and stakeholders.
