The second double-header of the season for the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship got underway in the historic streets of Rome on the 10th and 11th April.
On the first race of the weekend Porsche had a strong qualifying effort and the second-fastest time in the battle for Super Pole, with André Lotterer secuing a spot on the front grid but he was unable to turn this promising starting position into a top result due to an unfortunate overtaking manoeuvre which resulted in a collision. Ultimately, Lotterer was classified 14th.
Pascal, despite taking up the race from the eighth grid spot, managed to move up to fourth place at times although in the end he crossed the finish line in 7th place.
As a guest of the Porsche partner TAG Heuer, Hollywood star and former racing driver Patrick Dempsey paid a visit to team in Rome before the race and got the chance to turn a few laps with Porsche’s first fully electric sports car, the Taycan.
On the second race, Round 4 of the ABB Championship, Pascal Wehrlein brought the first podium of the season for the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team, claiming third place at the Rome E-Prix on Sunday after a gripping race against tough opposition. His teammate André Lotterer finished race in the Italian capital in position 15th.
Pascal Wehrlein: “That was a good day for Porsche and me. To climb the podium at the fourth race of the season is a great result. I’d like to thank my team for their hard work and tremendous support. Still, when you take the lead, you obviously want to win. Unfortunately, that wasn’t possible today because – like in Diriyah – we lacked a bit of speed in the race. Still, we’re on the right track. I hope that by Valencia we can take another step forward.”
