East-West growth and diversity

Until now, there has been a limited choice of options for providing connectivity and diversity between Europe, the Middle East and Asia. To meet demand, we have invested in new high-speed fibre infrastructure across Turkey, connecting its Eastern and Western borders. Now, not only do you get the latency and capacity for many of the high growth developing countries but the reliability of new diverse routes.

The Middle East and Africa (MEA) region will see a 6-fold growth in IP traffic, which is the highest at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 41 percent by 2020 according to Cisco Visual Networking Index™ (VNI).

More than one billion new Internet users are expected to join the global Internet community, growing from three billion in 2015 to 4.1 billion by 2020. The MEA region will see 445 million new Internet users by 2020 at a CAGR of 10.8 percent.

To satisfy this demand, we have invested 3.7B Turkish Lira ($1.7B) over the past three and a half years which includes East West Turkey Connect. It extends our total fibre coverage in Turkey by 2.5 times via terrestrial cables from one side of the country to the other. The new capacity meets the increasing demand for reliable, fast and cost-effective connectivity to and from the Middle East.
