Operator Connect and Teams Direct Routing are two different channels, both used for integrating phone call functionality straight into Microsoft Teams.
We offer a common platform for both services to ensure that our customers can combine them without limitations. There are two main differences between Operator Connect and Direct Routing:
1) Configuration activities on the Teams Tenancy to define public switched telephone network (PSTN) and policies
Direct Routing requires customer action on the tenancy while Vodafone provides the necessary support. Operator Connect leverages Microsoft APIs to complete the configuration automatically.
2) Complex deployments requiring gateways and/or integration with other private branch exchanges (PBXs)
Direct Routing can support complex scenarios. With Operator Connect, these may not be possible and require solution assessment.
