We have uplifted our Software Defined wide area network product (Cisco SD-WAN) to use the latest, centrally orchestrated, Viptela Software Defined Networking (SDN) platform from Cisco.
Cisco SD-WAN provides Global Enterprise with an application driven network that constantly adapts to the real time demands of their cloud computing, mobility and digitisation needs. The product intelligently steers traffic over a preferred network path from a combination of IP-MPLS, Internet and 4G transports, in order to meet policies set by the Enterprise for critical applications performance (e.g. Skype for Business, Salesforce). Enterprise benefit from a more dynamic and reliable wide area network solution that enables higher business agility through the ability to self-adjust application priority and routing policies within minutes through a self-serve portal and hence roll out new applications quicker and easier.
By integrating Cisco’s SDN platform, with our fixed and mobile networks, we can offer a cost effective, secure, on-demand network solution to our customers. Furthermore, we will deliver both the underlying network traffic and the software defined overlay services, with high levels of self-service functionality and flexible, end to end service management options.
Dana Berceanu- Head of Connectivity Practice – Vodafone
Cisco’s Viptela acquisition presented a further opportunity to Vodafone to enhance our SD-WAN offering with a richer set of features such as a more flexible fully meshed architecture and cloud connect extensions to Microsoft and AWS and 4G support. Aiming to enable Enterprises to be future proof, our Cisco SD-WAN product also supports network functions virtualisation (NFV) enabling Enterprise to reduce hardware deployment and take advantage of a wider choice of network functions from best of breed vendors.
SD-WAN enables customers to experience MPLS like SLA services across any connected network. Vodafone as one of the premier service providers is leveraging the Cisco SD-WAN with the Virtual Managed Services platform to provide its customers an integrated offering across MPLS Internet and Mobile links, ensuring efficient, flexible and secure network services. We look forward to a continued engagement with Vodafone to create the service offerings Global Enterprises require to support their business operations with regards to flexibility, time to market, security and Cloud Integration to support Vodafone’s thought leadership in the service provider market.
