18 December 2017

VODAFONE APPOINTS NEW INTERNET OF THINGS GLOBAL DIRECTOR

Vodafone announced today that Stefano Gastaut, the current Chief Executive of Vodafone Egypt, will become the new global Director of Vodafone’s Internet of Things (IoT) business unit from 1 January 2018.

A recognised global leader in its field, Vodafone’s IoT business generates more than €700 million in revenue, manages 62 million IoT SIMs, supporting services in over 190 countries.  It has a unique position in the automotive sector and has been positioned as a leader in the relevant Gartner Magic Quadrant report* for the last four years.

In his two years at Vodafone Egypt, Gastaut improved customer experience in both the consumer and enterprise sectors, successfully launched 4G and strengthened the company’s leadership position by growing revenues and improving market share from 40% to 45%. Before his role in Vodafone Egypt, Gastaut was CEO of Vodafone’s Partner Market business and was responsible for forming strategic alliances with local mobile operators around the world.

Commenting on his appointment Vodafone Group Enterprise Director Brian Humphries said, “Stefano is joining our IoT business at an exciting time in its development.  We believe that he will build on our leading position in IoT and open up new opportunities with customers worldwide.”

New Vodafone Global IoT Director Stefano Gastaut added, “I am looking forward to joining this successful and dynamic team and building on the foundations created by Erik Brenneis. Undoubtedly, IoT will play a significant role in transforming many businesses globally and I am confident that Vodafone will be the first choice partner to help customers use IoT to succeed in a digital world.”
