Together, Vodafone, Cobra Automotive, The New Motion, Porsche and Genertel are driving M2M and the internet of things (IoT). Recognising this, the GSMA announced today that it has shortlisted Vodafone and its partners for 3 Global Mobile Awards.
Porsche Car Connect is a connected car solution that has been shortlisted for the Best Mobile Innovation for the Internet of Things. The service enhances the experience of Porsche customers and offers features in three key areas: Porsche Vehicle Tracking System, Remote Services and Assistance and e-Mobility.
The New Motion charging solution, connected by Vodafone, has been shortlisted for The Green Mobile award. The solution makes electric cars viable and convenient across Europe using a network of electric vehicle charging points across the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, the UK and Norway.
Quality Driver offered by Genertel (part of the Generali Group) and powered by Vodafone has been shortlisted for the Best Mobile Innovation for the Internet of Things. Quality Driver is a Usage Based Insurance solution, a model in which insurers take a ‘Pay How You Drive’ approach to automotive insurance policies. An On Board Unit called the Quality Driver Box, provided by Cobra, is installed within a vehicle to monitor motoring behaviour and driving skills.
"Congratulations to all the nominees in the 20th Global Mobile Awards,” said Michael O’Hara, Chief Marketing Officer, GSMA. “With a new record of over 800 entries, the competition has been greater than ever - reflecting the dynamic pace of growth and evolution across the mobile world. We look forward to celebrating 20 years of mobile achievement and innovation with all the nominees and winners on Tuesday 3rd March, at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.”
