Press Release | March 2016
Digitalisation in its various forms is leading the process of change that is revolutionising the car industry. Always one step ahead in the development and implementation of new technologies, Audi is introducing its new Audi Connect Plus service in partnership with Vodafone.
Audi Connect is an advanced technology capable of integrating all a car’s onboard systems and making them available to the driver, connecting the vehicle to the outside world.
A direct evolution of the current system, the new Audi Connect Plus is being launched on the Italian market, initially in the Audi A4. Thanks to the partnership with Vodafone, Audi Connect Plus includes a data SIM enabling the user to get the full benefit of all the Audi Connect services included in the navigation system with MMI touch.
The customer, therefore, has immediate access to the myAudi platform, the innovative site that connects the vehicle to customisable services that can be configured via the web. It will be possible to access email, publish a tweet, download RSS feeds, update navigator maps and access data and images from Google Earth and Google Street View. Audi Music Stream will enable the user to listen to music, get the latest weather forecast or the price of fuel, memorise destinations or search for POIs using Google Maps, and obtain assistance in the event of emergency. By downloading a specific app to install on a smartphone, it will also be possible, from a distance, to check if the vehicle is locked, where it is parked, its overall status and switch on or off the auxiliary heating. All the Audi Connect services can be managed and customised, for one or more cars, directly from home via the myAudi site.
The Vodafone SIM includes 35 GB of data a month, including 5 GB of data for use when abroad, with speeds of up to 100 mps. This means practically unlimited access to the internet, with enough data allowance to download, for example, around 9,000 mp3 tracks, 1,200 video clips, approximately 10 HD films and more than 600 games for tablets and handheld devices.
Gartner has positioned Vodafone as a "Leader" in its Magic Quadrant for Managed M2M Services, Worldwide report 2017, for the fourth consecutive year
