Vodafone achieves highest use case scores in all six of Gartner’s Critical Capabilities for Managed IoT Connectivity Services, Worldwide 2020
Gartner has recently published its Critical Capabilities for Managed IoT Connectivity Services, Worldwide, which complements the Magic Quadrant.
After being named as a “Leader” in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Managed IoT Connectivity Services, Worldwide for the sixth consecutive time in 2019, Vodafone has now also achieved the highest use case achieved in all six of Gartner’s 2020 Critical Capabilities for Managed IoT Connectivity Services, Worldwide this year.
The Magic Quadrant positions Vodafone and other vendors in the market. The Critical Capabilities report goes into more detail on specific use cases. According to Gartner, “The report analyses eight critical capabilities for 18 vendors worldwide that are mapped into six main use cases for IoT-enabled businesses.”
When considering who to choose to provide managed IoT connectivity services, it is essential to have a holistic view of what the different providers can deliver. When combined, we believe the two reports offer a deep and complete insight into the IoT managed connectivity services market and the positioning of Vodafone Business product and service offerings.
The report says: “Building an IoT-enabled business is complex due to the variety of the components needed — spanning from the edge hardware to different connectivity technologies, management platforms and analytics. This situation raises many concerns for organizations around security, service delivery, global reach and local support in finding the right vendor to help them simplify the management of the ecosystem in a secured way and with service delivery guarantees.”

In analysing the products and services from Vodafone and other vendors, Gartner identified the following as being the factors that are critical to success. These are what customers need to be considering when choosing a provider for their IoT managed connectivity services.
Gartner also says: “Access to managed connectivity services is invaluable when deploying Internet of Things capitalized-based solutions at scale. When selecting a provider, IT Infrastructure & Operations leaders should look beyond network coverage to the quality and capability of vendor portals, security and broader deployment support services.”
