Bay of Bengal Gateway (BBG) submarine cable system links India, the Middle East and South East Asia with onward connectivity to Europe and Africa through existing cable systems. This cable system was launched in 2016 and offers high-speed connectivity with low latency and diverse routing. Vodafone was the lead investor in BBG, which extends over 8,000 km and has been built by a consortium of telecommunications providers to create seamless, resilient and cost-effective connectivity. Being one of the first dark fibre cable systems to be lit at 100G, BBG meets the high bandwidth demands of new and emerging technology and applications required of businesses operating in the region.
