5G Future Forum

We are a group of global 5G leaders accelerating the delivery of Multi-access Edge Computing-enabled solutions around the world.

Unlocking the full potential of 5G and Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC)

The mission of the 5G Future Forum (5GFF) is to develop 5G interoperability specifications to accelerate the delivery of 5G and MEC solutions around the world. The Forum’s founding members have been working to create the governance structure for the 5GFF, as well as develop both technical and commercial work streams.

The Forum’s first technical specifications have now been released

The Forum has now released its first technical specifications to its members, and abstracts of those specifications publicly. A process for non-members to request access to the specifications will be published in the future.

The specifications will be a major step forward in enabling global interoperability for 5G and Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) deployment to deliver efficient and innovative services to end customers.

5GFF membership

Benefits of membership

The 5GFF focuses on the creation of uniform interoperability specifications to improve speed to market for developers and multinational enterprises working on 5G-enabled solutions. In addition, members will develop public and private marketplaces to enhance developer and customer access to 5G and share global best practices in technology deployment. New members will gain access to existing specification documents and the opportunity to contribute technical input as additional specifications are developed.

Membership guidelines

The 5GFF is an organisation of facilities-based carriers, working with an ecosystem advisory council consisting of a range of industry representatives. At this stage, applications are invited from facilities-based carriers with wireless cellular operation(s). Prospective members should be prepared to contribute sufficient resources to progress the work of the 5GFF and willing to adopt the 5GFF Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), which will be made available upon approval of a valid Membership Application.

The deadline for membership applications has now closed, please contact [email protected] for further information.

Founding members

The 5G Future Forum was established January 2020 by 6 telecommunications companies.
