What is the Vodafone Foundation?

The Vodafone Foundation is an independent charity registered with the Charity Commission in England and Wales with charity registration no. 1089625. 


Since 1991, the Vodafone Foundation has contributed over £560 million to charitable activities worldwide. 

The Vodafone Foundation is funded by annual contribution from Vodafone Group Plc and Vodafone UK.

The Vodafone Foundation is committed to connecting communities around the world to improve lives. There is a unique network of 27 local foundations and social investment programmes that the Vodafone Foundation works through.


The underlying belief of this network of foundations is that connectivity drives change. By using this network the Vodafone Foundation aims to connect people with the necessary tools to make a difference in the world.

The Vodafone Foundation currently has nine trustees, including two trustees who are independent from Vodafone. Further details about the trustees can be found above.

The Vodafone Foundation is registered with the Charity Commission in England and Wales. 

The Vodafone Foundation is governed by a Board of Trustees.

The Vodafone Foundation receives annual contributions from Vodafone Group Plc and Vodafone UK. The Vodafone Foundation maintains an “independent but linked” relationship with Vodafone, drawing on the technology and expertise within Vodafone, in order to maximize its charitable impact. 

The Vodafone Foundation’s independence is key to its ability to work globally with a wide range of partners to meet its charitable objectives. 

The Vodafone Foundation receives an average of 12,000 requests per year for funding.
