Charity: Spitalfields City Farm

Naomi Glass and Samantha MortonNaomi has dedicated the last nine years of her life to working with different charities. She has taught English to children in Southern India; has worked in a South African children's home for those with HIV/AIDS and has led sustainability projects in Fiji. However, it is for her work with Spitalfields City Farm, that she has been selected to take part in the World of Difference programme.

At the City Farm Naomi has been covering maternity leave of the education and schools project coordinator. She has shown a wide range of people who would not normally visit a farm, where food comes from and how to look after animals humanely. The farm is committed to educating young people and their parents, including those who find classroom-based learning a challenge, in a fun, hands-on environment. Naomi will build on this important work and extend the benefits of the farm to new groups of people including those who are marginalised such as immigrant mothers and children who often face social exclusion.

Originally from London, Naomi has a BA in English from the University of York and trained as a journalist at City University, London. She was previously a journalist for The Pavement, a free magazine for London's homeless distributed in day centres and shelters around the capital.

Spitalfields City Farm is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year and more information can be found at http://www.spitalfieldscityfarm.org/
