Victory for Fernando Alonso
Taking his third victory of the season, Vodafone McLaren Mercedes driver Fernando Alonso won the European Grand Prix at the Nurburgring, overtaking Filipe Massa just four laps before the chequered flag.
Alonso's team mate Lewis Hamilton finished down in ninth place after going off the track in heavy rain early in the race.
The result brings Alonso within just two points of Hamilton at the top of the Drivers' Championship with Vodafone McLaren Mercedes still ahead in the Constructors' Championship going into the Hungarian Grand Prix.
