Fernando Alonso in second place, Lewis Hamilton retires
Vodafone McLaren Mercedes driver Fernando Alonso finished in second place in the Chinese Grand Prix, while his team mate and leader in the F1 Drivers' Championship Lewis Hamilton retired from the race after his tyres deteriorated badly in difficult track conditions.
The result throws the F1 Drivers' Championship race wide open going into the last race of the season in Brazil, with Hamilton leading by four points over Alonso and winner of the Chinese Grand Prix Kimi Raikkonen just seven points behind.
