Vodafone UK Offers Unlimited Calls to Landlines or Unlimited Texts on Pay Monthly Price Plans*

05 September 2007

Vodafone UK has refreshed its pay monthly price plans and is now offering unlimited calls to landlines in the UK if a customer takes out a £40 or above price plan. Or if a customer prefers to text, then they can choose to have unlimited text messages instead.

To highlight how Brits love to talk and what they think of the country’s rich variety of accents, Vodafone UK commissioned new research. It found that:

  • Scottish accents are the sexiest
  • Estuary English is the most fashionable accent
  • Liverpudlian accents are the funniest
  • Received pronunciation (RP) is still the best accent for a TV news caster, sports commentator or MP to have and is the most trusted; nicest to talk to and the UK’s ‘best’ accent.

“These new offers within our pay monthly price plans give customers great value for money. If a customer is mostly a talker then they can take advantage of unlimited calls to UK landlines at no extra charge or if they prefer to text, then they can take advantage of unlimited text messages,” says Tim Yates, Chief Marketing Officer, Vodafone UK.

“Vodafone’s research has found that over sixty per cent of us are proud of our accents and won’t change them at all, however, forty per cent of us try to ‘tone down’ our accents on the phone and ten per cent of people hate their accents so much that they try to mask it as much as possible – these people may prefer to take advantage of unlimited text messages from Vodafone,” continues Tim Yates.

This campaign will be supported with in-store and outdoor advertising.

* On price plans at £40 and above per month.

Research was carried out by Tickbox of 1,000 people across the UK in July and August 2007.
