Vodafone UK launches all network remote access solution for improved corporate management and policy controls

28 June 2007

Business managers to benefit from reduced corporate risk, increased regulatory compliance and improved productivity

Vodafone UK today announces the launch of Vodafone Secure Remote Access - an integrated, policy-driven solution to the complex challenge of providing secure network access for remote workers in any kind medium and large-sized organisation.

The new service will benefit business managers by reducing risk of corporate security breaches, managing regulatory compliance via policy control, while also improving productivity and business continuity.

Vodafone Secure Remote Access enables remote workers with laptops or desktop PCs to connect securely to their office computer systems via one simple user interface and from multiple worldwide access technologies - including Mobile Broadband, fixed dial-up and ISDN, Public and Private Wi-Fi, hotel broadband and home broadband.

The benefits to customers include:

  • Greater flexibility to adapt to changing or disrupted working patterns and comply with regulatory requirements
  • Capacity to enforce company IT security policies: for example in-house IT departments can set up Vodafone Secure Remote Access to prohibit internet browsing outside of VPNs and 'tear down' prohibited applications, such as consumer Instant Messaging
  • Ability to monitor PC compliance from start-up to shut-down, remedying breaches of IT policy in real time.
  • Range of packages with predictable monthly costs for usage from a single provider, tailored to a range of profiles from home workers to frequent international travellers with heavy roaming usage*.

Kyle Whitehill Enterprise Director of Vodafone UK commented: "Changing working patterns are resulting in the increasing use of remote access from an ever-widening range of locations, networks and devices. With the launch of Vodafone Secure Remote Access we are helping our customers to cut a path through this maze with a solution that is simple, very secure and puts control firmly back in the hands of the IT manager."

The launch of Vodafone Secure Remote Access is the latest in a series of announcements from Vodafone UK as it continues to evolve from its roots as a mobile operator to cater for the total communications needs of its enterprise customers**. Vodafone Secure Remote Access is supported by Vodafone UK's Enterprise Mobility Solutions team, which works closely with customers to understand the business drivers behind their needs and delivers solutions that include business consulting, technology, infrastructure and a managed support framework as appropriate.

Kyle Whitehill continues: "We are giving both the users and the managers of remote access services the peace of mind and the freedom to do what they are there for - to deliver value to their organisations."

Vodafone Secure Remote Access has been developed by Vodafone UK via a strategic partnership with Fiberlink, a leading specialist in secure mobile working. Under the terms of the partnership, Vodafone UK will increasingly incorporate the best-of-breed elements of Fiberlink's mobility platform alongside Vodafone's market leading Mobile Broadband capability exclusively for mobile workforce services in the UK.
