- The Santo Domingo Municipal Sports Facilities, in Alcorcón, was the venue for the final trials of the 3rd Vodafone Stars Challenge.
- Throughout the day, candidates turned up to be assessed by the technical team headed by former soccer player Francisco Narváez "Kiko".
Madrid, 15th April 2008.- Last weekend, Vodafone Spain organized the last trials in Madrid, under the supervision of Kiko, who spent more than 10 hours judging all the candidates' skill and physical fitness. The trials took place at the Santo Domingo Municipal Sports Facilities, in Alcorcón, and the 500-plus candidates who signed up for the trials, some of whom had travelled from afar as Lanzarote or Barbate, enjoyed a day's football alongside some of their stars.
At the end of the trials, Kiko had an enthusiastic message for all the other participants: "My thanks to all of you who didn't make it this time. Keep on enjoying football. I'm really satisfied with how the trials went, and I hope that the participants enjoy the final test in El Sardinero".
This year, the 14 lucky candidates who have been chosen in the 3 cities where the trials have taken place, will get the chance to play in the "El Sardinero" stadium in front of dozens of thousands of spectators during half-time of the Racing de Santander – Real Madrid match on 20th April, enjoying a real professional experience. In this match, it will be the spectators who choose the final 7 players who are going to represent Spain at the Vodafone Cup in Moscow, a European football competition that Vodafone organizes to mark its co-sponsorship of the UEFA Champions League.
What's more, to round off this unique football experience, the 7 finalists of the third Vodafone Stars Challenge will be attending the UEFA Champions League final, which will be played on 21st May in Moscow.
