Madrid, 5th June 2008.- Today Vodafone Spain unveils a new generation of video games, available exclusively through Vodafone live!, that give users a whole new range of opportunities to play games over their mobile phones. With the new generation of videogames now on offer from Vodafone, players will enjoy a new gaming experience through innovative technologies that have brought motion sensor, high definition and touch screens to mobile handsets.
Vodafone is pushing ahead with its mobile-PC-Internet convergence strategy and, with this launch, the telecoms carrier is bringing to the mobile the innovations that are emerging with new generation consoles. These new games, coupled with cutting-edge phones, are breaking down the barrier of traditional gaming, allowing players to enjoy a new “playability” they had not experienced until now. Not only is the mobile the platform on which the videogame is displayed, but also an essential part of the game, letting players of all ages discover new ways of having fun.
Motion sensor games
Vodafone presents the first generation of videogames that you can play using a mobile phone as the joystick and platform at the same time. Vodafone's customers will get the chance to play games such as Burn Out, Need for Speed Pro Street, Bowling or Luxor on the SONY Ericsson 910 phone and other handsets that offer this new feature and will be going on sale shortly.
High Definition Games
Developed with cutting-edge definition technologies, these video games let users enjoy high quality sound and image, through stunning graphics or sound effects that are revolutionizing the gaming experience. Some of the Vodafone high definition games that can be played on most phones with the Symbian operating system are: FIFA 08, Asphalt 3, Real Fútbol 2008, Crash Nitro Kart, Worms World Party, Midnight Pool 3D, Brothers in Arms or Massive Snowboarding.
Touch Games
This new range of games has been developed for touch screen mobiles that let you use your finger or the pointer in the game, allowing you to make new movements and play in different ways, and so have even more fun. These games are available on Samsung F700 and LG Viewty KU990 and include: Camera Café, Jorge Lorenzo Pro Moto Racing, Pile Up, Abracadaball, Midnight Bowling 2 and Burguer Rush.
“We are very grateful to videogame suppliers such as Electronic Arts, Gameloft, Iplay and Real Networks among others, for working shoulder-to-shoulder with us and for committing themselves to a new gaming experience that, above all, will benefit customers,” said Iñaki Cabrera, Consumer Marketing Director of Vodafone Spain. “We believe that it's the right time for this launch because the new generation consoles and laptops have opened up a whole new range of possibilities for users and have broken down the barrier of the way that games are played so that now, people of all ages can play”, Iñaki Cabrera added.
The games will be available in the Videogames section of the Vodafone live! menu, where they can be downloaded for 7 euros each1.
