07 February 2008

  • Vodafone Spain residential, self-employed and business  customers will enjoy exclusive access to the "Dicta SMS" service that converts voice into text.
  • Voice-text conversion will be available in two modes: Automatic Dicta SMS, which will work when you call a phone that is unavailable or Dicta SMS by dialling the prefix 115.

Madrid, 7 February 2008. - Vodafone Spain and Spinvox Ltd. have unveiled the new "Dicta SMS" service, exclusively for Vodafone customers.  The "Dicta SMS" service will let Vodafone users convert voice calls into text in one of two different ways: Automatic Dicta SMS and Dicta SMS 115.

With Automatic Dicta SMS, when Vodafone customers call another Vodafone telephone that is unavailable and does not have voicemail, they can leave a voicemail message that the called party will receive as a text message. When customers call an unavailable phone, a free message will be played and they can choose to record a message for the called party. To send the voice message, customers only have to press 1 on their mobile to activate the service and the message will be sent as a text message. This service will be activated by default for all Vodafone customers and both the sender and the recipient must be Vodafone customers.

Vodafone customers will also be able to use the Dicta SMS 115 service. Customers only have to make a call to the number of their choice by dialling 115 and the voice message will be sent to the recipient as a text message. In this case, the Dicta SMS user must be a Vodafone customer, but the recipient can be a customer of any operator, and will not be charged anything.

“At Vodafone we remain committed to the best services for our customers and we continue to stand out for offering whatever makes it easier for people to communicate with one another. Dicta SMS meets these two requirements, as well as being an extremely useful tool for people who have hearing disabilities”, remarked Ignacio Román, Marketing Director of the Vodafone Spain Residential Business Unit.

“SpinVox has specialized in voice-text conversion and this deal with Vodafone in Spain means that the voice of its customers will become the keyboard of their mobile,” says Cristina Domecq at SpinVox. “We are convinced that our Dicta SMS service will be a success in Spain, the first country where it will be available, and that we will continue partnering with Vodafone in the development of new applications”, she concluded.

Each message will cost the same as a normal voice call (setup +  length of the call) according to each customer's pricing plan. Receiving the Dicta SMS messages is free for the recipient in either of the two scenarios and the service is available to prepay and contract customers alike.

Available for residential and corporate customers
Corporate customers will find the tool very useful for staying in touch and for contacting their own customers easier and faster. This service is already automatically available for all SOHOs, SMEs and businesses that have activated the callback service.

Dicta SMS offers solutions for customers who find it hard to write a text message, such as people with hearing problems, with reduced mobility in their hands or who, simply, are not used to writing text messages. Dicta SMS saves users having to type a message, affording a better user experience tailored to their own particular circumstances.
