- Vodafone launches TV Zapping, the first application on the market to enable users to easily manage mobile television channels
Madrid, 1st February 2008.- Vodafone is offering the television series Física o Química exclusively to its customers on Vodafone live! TV. The first episode of the Antena 3 series can be seen on the Física o Química channel of Vodafone live! TV 36 hours before it is to be shown on television. The remaining episodes will be available on the mobile after they are aired on television, broadcasting continuously for 24 hours on this channel. They will also be available for viewing on-demand at any time.
The new Antena 3 series Física o Química, which starts next Monday, will depict the world of adolescent and young people’s education through its characters, also tackling various topics of social interest such as classroom violence, a lack of motivation in school work and ethical and personal issues.
Antena 3 was the first Spanish television channel to launch mobile content and it has been a pioneer in offering its users content through every available medium, standing out due to its clear strategy of launching content through alternative media. In May 2007, for the first time in Spain, Antena 3 launched full episodes of its series on the Internet. Now it is going one stage further by offering one of its new series on a mobile medium even before it is seen on television, and in September it will launch a mobile television channel featuring entire series.
The Física o Química channel, along with Vodafone’s other mobile television channels, can be managed using TV Zapping, the first application on the market for managing television channels on the mobile telephone. TV Zapping, an exclusive Vodafone application, enables users to allocate television channels to the telephone keypad, from 1 to 9, as if it were a remote control, allowing them to change channel without interruption. This application enables users to view all television channels easily with direct access through the telephone menu, as well as viewing the programme listing for each channel. As a result, Vodafone customers can have up-to-date knowledge of the programme schedule of their favourite channels.
The TV Zapping application is pre-installed on some models such as the recently launched Nokia 6120 Internet Edition and can also be downloaded free of charge from the Vodafone live! menu in the TV section1. By way of a launch offer, Vodafone is offering customers who subscribe to Vodafone live!! TV, the first month’s subscription totally free 2.
In November 2004, Vodafone Spain pioneered Vodafone live! with 3G and the first mobile television service. Vodafone live! currently has over 60 channels in two packages: Vodafone live! TV and Mobile DIGITAL+. Its channels include entertainment, music, children’s, news, sport, series and adult content.
