Madrid, 19th February 2008. The GLA Group, which covers all phases of construction, from raw materials to the end product, has chosen Vodafone Spain to update and modernise its mobile communication services.

The GLA Group has selected Vodafone to optimise its current systems, address future needs and improve the company’s functionality.  The objective of this agreement is to make use of Vodafone’s leading position in mobile communications and to design services which enable it to be more competitive.

The agreement, which has a duration of three years, includes the initial supply, by Vodafone Spain, of 600 voice lines and mobile mail services via 25 BlackBerry smartphones, and data transmission via 40 3G cards.

With its headquarters in Madrid, the GLA Group currently has 54 concrete factories, as well as 12 gravel pits and quarries, mobile plants and gravel-cement and mortar plants in various parts of the country. The group strategy involves diversifying its current business in order to consolidate its growth, moving towards new development areas such as mineral exploitation. Its short-term objective is to expand in the north of Spain and Catalonia and replicate the success achieved in the provinces of Madrid, Ciudad Real and Zaragoza, and on the east coast.

“Our work is based upon thorough and professional management, aimed at offering our customers top quality products where they need them. Without any doubt, Vodafone’s mobile communication services will help us to be more efficient”, states Cesar Nohales, General Manager of the GLA Group.

“Vodafone Spain is firmly committed to replacing fixed line communication with mobile communication, so that companies like the GLA Group can access the Internet, e-mail and their corporate intranet anywhere at broadband speed, in order to increase their productivity and be more efficient in their business”, states Rafael Urgel, Director of the Corporate Business Unit for central Spain at Vodafone Spain.
