Bucharest, August 28, 2007 – Starting October 1st, 2007, Vodafone Romania will use Euro instead of USD, as currency for calculating the tariffs for its services.
"In the year of Romania's integration in the European Union, we are pleased to announce the change of currency for charging our services, from USD to Euro. The conversion to Euro has been a complex process, which lasted over 6 months and involved significant changes in our informatics systems and in our billing plans. We wanted to make the conversion as advantageous as possible for our customers, through a transparent process and a proactive communication, with the challenge of the fluctuating rate of exchange in the last months", said Liliana Solomon, CEO Vodafone Romania.
Starting October 1st, 2007, the subscriptions, national tariffs for voice and data services, the existing credit on Cartela Vodafone and the Vodafone 2 in 1 subscription, will be converted from USD to Euro, using 0.73421 as conversion rate (1 USD = 0.73421 EUR). The rate was calculated as an average of BNR rates of exchange for EURO/RON and USD/RON, between July 29, 2007 and August 27, 2007. The billing will have as reference the new tariffs in Euro, that will be converted in RON, at the BNR exchange rate at the invoice issuing date.
For certain tariffs and subscriptions* from the Vodafone portfolio, the automatic conversion will not be applied. For communication simplicity and clarity reasons, these tariffs will be adjusted as follows:
- Vodafone Standard subscription, of USD 4, becomes EUR 3;
- USD 0.07 tariff for a national SMS becomes EUR 0.05;
- USD 0.15 tariff for an international SMS becomes EUR 0.12;
- USD 0.19 tariff for a MMS becomes EUR 0.14.
The value of loyalty points will change, from USD 0.01 to EUR 0.01, for one loyalty point. The value of the loyalty points accumulated by our customers until October 1st, 2007, will be converted form USD to Euro, according to the conversion rate specified above.
The existing users of Cartela Vodafone will benefit from new tariffs expressed in Euro, starting October the 1st. The new tariffs, bonuses and the values of the recharge plan will be announced starting September 24, 2007. A special free number, 757, will be available for our prepaid customers, who will be able to call from their mobile phones for consulting the new tariffs plan.
The tariffs and subscriptions for international calls and roaming services will be also modified. The new tariffs will be available on www.vodafone.ro, starting August 28, 2007.
