Vodafone Romania launches a new USB modem for 3G broadband customers

Vodafone Romania launches Pebble USB Modem, an innovative product that enriches Vodafone's 3G broadband portfolio.

Available exclusively in Vodafone stores and its partner stores, Pebble USB Modem enables access to the e-mail and the company's intranet, both on PC and laptops, at speeds of up to 3.6 Mbps. The new modem also incorporates the new HSUPA and HSDPA technologies, enabling speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps, which are the next development stage for 3G broadband services.

"With Pebble USB Modem, any user can have instant Internet access at 3G broadband speeds, from any location, whether at the office, at home or on the move. This easy to use device answers the mobility and connectivity needs of our customers with high-speed, user-friendly communications. The product is launched in anticipation of the 7.2 Mbps 3G broadband and HSUPA services to come, a logical continuation of our technological roadmap," said Liliana Solomon, Chief Executive Officer, Vodafone Romania.

Pebble USB Modem is a portable 'plug & play' device, small and easy to use. All the user has to do is plug it into the USB port of a PC or laptop, and the included software will be automatically installed on the computer, providing instant Internet access at 3G broadband speeds of up to 3.6 Mbps. In December 2007, pebble USB Modem was awarded with the "iF Product Design Award 2008"* by the iF International Design Forum.

Promotionally, Vodafone Romania offers the Pebble USB Modem free of charge, for a 2-year subscription for the 3G broadband service with 8 GB of traffic included, or at special prices starting from EUR 24 for other types of subscriptions.

Until January 31, 2008, Vodafone customers benefit from a promotional offer for 3G broadband services which includes a 50% discount on the 3G broadband subscription for the first three months of contract, for 2-year contracts. Moreover, Vodafone Romania customers benefit from additional monthly traffic included in the subscription, for life, for all 3G broadband subscriptions as follows: 200 MB for the Mobile Internet 200 MB plan, 1 GB for the Mobile Internet 1 GB and Mobile Internet 4 GB plans, and 2 GB for the Mobile Internet 8 GB subscription plan.

Vodafone is the first operator who launched 3G broadband - HSDPA services in Romania, on October 5, 2006. Vodafone 3G broadband services, with speeds of up to 3.6 Mbps are currently available in 232 localities all over the country, including 58 cities.

3G broadband - HSDPA services are also available when roaming in 26 countries/regions, through 33 operators: Germany, Portugal, Spain, UK, France, Belgium, Austria, Bulgaria, Finland, Hungary, Hong Kong, Switzerland, Holland, Greece, Italy, Ireland, Poland, Denmark, Croatia, Israel, New Zeeland, Japan, Luxemburg, Sweden, USA and Malta.

Vodafone Romania is the seventh Vodafone operating country to have launched Pebble USB Modem, after UK, Portugal, Spain, Greece, Egypt and Hungary.
