20 November 2007

  • Fast and secured access to the company applications and information systems, on the mobile phone
  • Service available over a wide range of smart phones, including BlackBerry devices and mobile handsets with Windows operating system

Vodafone Romania announces the launch of its Applications Service, the first solution enabling business customers to access company applications on the mobile phone. With Vodafone Applications Service, users will be able to access the company databases and applications, such as SAP, Oracle, Siebel, Remedy, when on the move.

Vodafone Applications Service enables a seamless connection between the back-office applications and the handheld business device, offering mobile employees comprehensive and up-to-date information about customers, sales, orders, providers, contracts, stock level and other current activities. Moreover, end users are now able to update and register data in the company information system even while they are away from their desk, over the mobile device, meeting companies' requirements for increased efficency, performance and flexibility.

"This is an important part of our ongoing strategy to service the total communications needs of our enterprise customers. Romania is the third operating country within Vodafone Group to launch the Applications Service for business customers, after UK, in March 2007 and then Spain. Companies make significant investments in business applications, therefore it is very important that they can use these enterprise applications outside of the office, when on the move", said Liliana Solomon, Chief Executive Officer Vodafone Romania.

Thus, with Vodafone Applications Service invoices can be issued faster, receipts can be generated automatically and orders can be placed in the shortest time. The sales representatives can access instantly up-to-date information on prices, products, contracts, while away from their desks. Field service activities become faster, since technicians can get direct access to important customer, stock level, spare parts orders, delivery and planning information, anytime, on their mobile handset.

The new Vodafone service is available over a range of mobile hansets, among which BlackBerry 8100 Pearl, BlackBerry 8310, Samsung BlackJack i600 and HTC TyTN II are currently available in Vodafone Romania portfolio.
