Vodafone launches first ultra-low cost handsets

  • Vodafone-only branded handsets are expected to increase access to mobile telephony for millions of people in Emerging and Developing Markets
  • Vodafone Romania will commercialize the new Vodafone 225 and Vodafone 125 starting June 1st, 2007, at very accessible prices

Bucharest, May 21, 2007 - Vodafone today unveiled its first Vodafone-only branded ultra-low cost handsets, manufactured for Vodafone by ZTE Corporation, following a global handset procurement agreement signed between the two companies in December 2006. Vodafone Romania, Vodafone Egypt and Vodacom (South Africa) will be the first markets to launch the 2 new handsets, the Vodafone 125 and Vodafone 225, at very accessible prices, aimed at providing users affordable access to mobile telephony services,

The Vodafone 125 and Vodafone 225 will be on sale starting June 1st, 2007, in Vodafone Romania own stores and dealers network.

The Vodafone 225 is a dual band GSM 900/1800 colour screen handset, with a menu that includes polyphonic ring tones, games, calculator. Vodafone 125 offers almost the same options except for the screen, which is black and white. Both handsets have an attractive and modern design.
