Over 20% of Vodafone Romania contract customers use non-cash methods to pay their Vodafone bill, such as online payment, card payment, money transfer, Direct Debit, Vodafone Mobile Banking and payment on the mobile phone. In 2007 alone, the number of Vodafone bill payments through non-cash methods grew by 5% as compared to the previous year.
Vodafone Romania encourages the adoption of the new payment ways, by introducing new alternative services to the traditional cash payment of the bill.
Vodafone Romania has recently extended the payment methods of the bill available for its customers, by adding a new service which enables the payment of the Vodafone bill directly over the mobile phone, by using the bank card -Visa or MasterCard. Thus, any Vodafone postpaid consumer may use the new service, by calling *121#. In order to make the payment, the customer chooses "Pay the bill here" on the option list, and fills in the identification data required. Customers will receive a confirmation text message once the payment is completed. The payment may be initiated only by the owner of the Vodafone services contract, who also needs to be the owner of the bank card. The bill payment service through *121# is also available to customers who don't have any Internet access, anywhere in the country, under Vodafone network coverage, as well as when roaming, in the networks that allow short numbers, *xxx # type.
The non-cash payment methods are used by a significantly higher number of business customers. Among large companies customers, 70% opt for paying their Vodafone bill by other means than cash.
The non-cash payment ways mostly used by Vodafone customers for paying their bill are card payment, at ATMs or POS as well as money transfer.
The new service for the payment of the Vodafone bill was developed together with UniCredit Tiriac Bank, which processes payments through *121#.
