Constanta, July 1st, 2007 – Vodafone Romania is pleased to support, during the summer, two programs which will contribute to a cleaner and a more secure seaside: the launch of a new partnership with Salvamar and the extension of the "Clean Seaside" program, for the third year.

"The two programs we’ll be supporting this summer in the seaside resorts, as a socially responsible company, are meant to contribute to the preservation of a cleaner environment and to more secure beaches. We focus on the environment preservation and the involvement in saving people's lives in our efforts to meet the community needs. We invite all the tourists visiting the Romanian seaside resorts to support these initiatives and to involve themselves in preserving the beaches cleaner and more secure", said Liliana Solomon, President & CEO Vodafone Romania.

Starting this year, Vodafone Romania is launching a new campaign at the seaside, in a partnership with Salvamar – ANSPSR (National Association of Romanian Professional Divers and Lifeguards), to support life saving actions in emergency situations. The partnership between Vodafone Romania and Salvamar spans over 3 years and consists in assuring the financial support to purchase specific lifeguard vehicles and equipment.

This year, Vodafone Romania will invest USD 50,000 in acquiring ski jets for emergency interventions on sea in case of drowning, lifeboats, life boards, lifebelts, first aid kits, patrol kayaks, spinal immobilization stretches. The program will also include an educational and informational campaign to prevent drowning accidents.

This initiative runs under the “Partnership for life” slogan, together with the 2 programs launched by Vodafone in the past years: the program with Salvamont – The National Association of Alpine Lifeguards, since 2004, and the partnership with SMURD emergency service, since 2005. Vodafone Romania continues this year the "Clean Seaside" program, in partnership with the non-governmental organization Mare Nostrum. This year, Vodafone Romania will invest USD 50,000 in supporting this program.

"Clean Seaside" program is aimed at preserving the beaches clean, by placing thrash cans for selective collection and recycling of wastes, as wells as by an educational campaign meant to involve tourists in this effort. In order to cover the beach areas newly granted into concession, Vodafone Romania will install this year 490 selective waste collection modules, as compared to 300 modules in 2005. The wastes will be collected periodically by specialized teams, and then sent to recycling. In 2005, the quantity of collected wastes (plastic, paper and aluminum) amounted to 20 tons, and grew 80% to 36.1 tons in 2006.

"Clean Seaside" will run during the summer season on the beaches of Constanta city as well as in Mamaia, Eforie Nord, Navodari, Neptun, Olimp, Venus, Jupiter, Mangalia and Vama Veche resorts.
