Vodafone One Tribe kicks off the NRL season with Fat Freddys Drop, Sunday 23 March

04 March 2008

Fat Freddys Drop, New Zealand’s most popular live act, has been confirmed as the star billing at the Vodafone Warriors’ FREE Gig & Game event on Sunday 23 March at Mt Smart Stadium.

The event is FREE to all Vodafone One Tribe members, the official fan club of the Vodafone Warriors, and registration is free – simply visit www.vodafoneonetribe.co.nz – however people will need to purchase a ticket to attend the game beforehand.

Richard Howarth, Vodafone’s Head of Sponsorship, says that the combination of a top kiwi music act and the excitement of a Vodafone Warriors match would mean a day to remember for fans.

“Vodafone is really passionate about New Zealand music and the Vodafone Warriors, and we want to kick off the 2008 NRL season with a bang – with a free concert for the fans,” he says.

“Its rare enough that Fat Freddys Drop plays at a local venue, much less as a free concert, so we urge anyone with half an interest in either sport or music to join up to Vodafone One Tribe and come along to the game and celebrate with us.

“We also want to show the players that we are right behind them and, through Vodafone One Tribe, we want to help the fans by giving them another way to connect with their heroes and support their team.”

“Vodafone sponsorships focus on supporting music and sport in New Zealand and we look forward to bringing fans of both these passions together in one place in a celebration of the best of our musical and sporting talent,” says Howarth.
