As of today Carnival lovers from all over the Netherlands can download the winning Maastricht Carnival song of Duo X-Elle named ‘Dao Kump Maria’ as an exclusive ringtone on their mobile phone. The winning song of the Maastricht Carnival contest will be heard everywhere during Carnival. Vodafone has converted the tune into a ringtone for the fifth year in a row, in co-operation with Carnival guild De Tempeleers and all other Maastricht Carnival associations.

The company does this free of charge for the Carnival guild, thus making a fitting gesture towards the local community and Carnival lovers in the rest of the Netherlands. Prince Carnival Richard I of De Tempeleers and the chairman of Maastricht's associated Carnival guilds Nico Kempeners were the first Maastricht citizens to be officially offered the ringtone by Vodafone last night. Prince Richard I: “Vodafone has a nice tradition of offering the yearly Carnival hit song as a ringtone.” The Prince had more good news: “The company I work for will soon become a worldwide Vodafone customer”. Whether or not this is because of the Maastricht Carnival ringtone, is yet unknown.

Vodafone customers can download ''Doa Kump Maria'' from EUR 1.50 via Vodafone live! on their mobile phone. Non-Vodafone customers can order the ringtone by sending an SMS to 2580. The order code for the polyphone ringtone is ''P Maria'' and for the realtone ''R Maria''.
