Vodafone subsidiary appointed by NICTIZ as healthcare service provider
Maastricht, 27 August 2007 – Vodafone Netherlands today announces that subsidiary TNF has been qualified as national healthcare service provider, by the National ICT Institute for Care (NICTIZ). Using TNF’s broadband network healthcare providers can safely exchange information with the national database. This is a crucial element in any future deployment of nationwide electronic patient information.
Requirements from NICTIZ for healthcare service providers are in the field of security, dependability and management of the network connections. After all, the network is used by healthcare providers who want to safely exchange confidential patient files on a national scale.
Gert-Jan van Boven, NICTIZ director: "As administrator of the national contact point and as knowledge centre for healthcare innovations in the Netherlands, we are very pleased with TNF as the second party qualified as national healthcare service provider. Healthcare service providers are one of the elements in the nationwide exchange of information."
TNF (The Network Factory) which was acquired by Vodafone in November 2006, offers customized managed services in broadbrand technology and company networks. A growing number of customers from areas such as youth care, home care, hospitals, psychiatric healthcare and GP's underline TNF’s focus on this segment. Not surprisingly, director Jack Smits is very pleased: "This qualification as healthcare service provider is a clear recognition of the quality of our services. We are very proud to be able to meet all strict requirements from NICTIZ."
NICTIZ is the national point of contact and knowledge centre for ICT and innovation in health care environments. An important key element of electronic communications in healthcare environments is the national database that NICTIZ administrates. Through this national database every authorized healthcare provider has access to relevant patient files in a simple, secure and dependable way, anytime anywhere. NICTIZ designs national standards in electronic communications with and for healthcare providers, supports the sector in implementing effective ICT-solutions and actively contributes to policy making for the ICT part of healthcare on a national and international scale.
