Messa da Requiem, a master piece of Maltese composer Anton Nani, will drift across the airwaves after several years when it will be performed by the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra as part of its 10th anniversary, at St John's Co-Cathedral, Valletta, on April 15. This event, which is considered a major one within the orchestra's portfolio, is being realised thanks to the support of the Vodafone Malta Foundation.
Foundation's chairperson Gemma Mifsud Bonnici said the foundation felt proud to be involved in this cultural event which will make such an outstanding work by Nani see the light of day. "Such support shows one of the Foundation's aims to promote culture and heritage within the local communities in which Vodafone operates."
While thanking Vodafone Malta Foundation for their financial support, Mr Lino Attard, Chairperson of Malta Philarmonic Orchestra said that Messa da Requiem would see the participation of four soloists including one coming from abroad.
The performance is being held in collaboration with The Rev. Metropolitan Chapter and The St. John's Co-Cathedral Foundation, with the participation of soloists Gillian Zammit, Nino Batatunashvili, Charles Vincenti and Anthony Montebello, and the Pro Canto Choir (choir master Josef Bugeja) under the direction of Emanuel Spagnol. The concert is being held under the distinguished patronage of the President of Malta Dr Edward Fenech Adami.
