The Vodafone Malta Foundation extended its support to Fra Diego Home by donating the amount of €5558 to purchase and install EU compliant playing field equipment for its resident children. With such equipment, the children will be able to play outdoor games, facilitating physical exercise and socialization.
"We are committed to promote the general welfare and social well being of the children entrusted in our care. Having good and safe equipment for our playing field which is compliant with EU standards is expensive to get and we thank the Vodafone Malta Foundation for giving us their financial support," said Sr Josephine Xuereb, Mother Superior of Fra Diego Home.
Fra Diego Home, through a community of dedicated Franciscan sisters, provides an indispensable service to children coming from families that have various social needs. The home currently accommodates 20 children who are housed in two flats. Moreover, the home continues to host 10 elderly women who have been residing there since their childhood. Fully aware of the difficulties encountered by certain families, besides these residential facilities, the home also runs a day care centre where a carer looks after ten children aged between three and eleven.
Chairperson of the Vodafone Malta Foundation, Mrs Gemma Mifsud Bonnici, said the Foundation was all out to help in such a good deed. "We're more than happy to see all these children benefiting from such equipment. At times, giving your small bit makes such a big difference."
