Rome, 5 February 2008. The Vodafone Italia Foundation is to mark its fifth anniversary on Thursday, 7 February in a ceremony to be held at 11 am at the Auditorium dell’Ara Pacis in Rome. The event will focus on the presentation of the book, Oltre i Margini, which has been published by Laterza expressly for the occasion. Roberto Alajmo, Gianni Biondillo, Giuseppe Culicchia, Giuseppe Montesano, Emanuele Trevi and Igiaba Spiego, the six authors behind the real-life stories in the book, will take part in the event and give a personal account of the stories of life on the fringes of society, of privation and voluntary work collected in Oltre i Margini. Photographs by Giuliano Matteucci and Luca Nostri, with Marco Delogu acting as creative director, will be on show during the event.

Oltre i Margini has been edited by Franco Bomprezzi, a journalist and writer and a member of the Vodafone Italia Foundation’s scientific committee. The introduction includes the testimonials of the people who have influenced and guided the Foundation’s decisions in its five years of activity: Simonetta Matone, Tito Boeri, Ferruccio De Bortoli, Don Gino Rigoldi and Pietro Guindani, CEO of Vodafone Italia. An large number of photographs depict the people, places and emotions linked to the social projects supported.

The Vodafone Italia Foundation fulfils the Company’s wish to create an independent organisation with social and cultural commitments to support children in need, immigrants and the elderly. One of Italy’s main corporate foundations, to date it has financed 199 projects, of which 75 have been completed, representing a total outlay of €31 million.

The “Fond of Life” report, which covers all the projects financed over the previous 12 months, is published each year in order to provide further transparency in addition to the www.fondazionevodafoneitalia.it website. The report was awarded the Oscar di Bilancio FERPI 2007 prize in the non-profit organisation section.
