Vodafone was present at the Doing Business Socially '07 conference, with two succesful corporate responsibility programmes

31 May 2007

Vodafone participated in the Good Practices exhibition of the "Doing Business Socially 07 – Corporate Responsibility Values and Practices" conference presenting and sharing experiences from the organization and implementation of the two successful Corporate Responsibility programmes, as selected by the pertinent committee set up by the Hellenic Network for Corporate Social Responsibility.

The Practices were:

a) The recycling programme for mobile handsets and accessories, implemented throughout Greece in all 370 company branches since June 2003

b) Products and services for Impaired & Disabled Persons, namely:

  • the Vodafone Speaking Phone service, which converts information displayed on the user's handset screen into speech by means of the 'virtual voice' technology;
  • the Deaf & Hard of Hearing Customer Service, which allows persons with hearing impairments or speech impediments to communicate with Vodafone's Customer Service Department via SMS on 13830.

The conference was an initiative undertaken by the Hellenic Network for Corporate Social Responsibility, where Vodafone is a key subscriber, involving a two-fold event, since an exhibition of Good Practices was held in parallel. The aim of the conference was to enhance the broader understanding of the significance of Corporate Social Responsibility through the experience and practices presented by heads and executives of European and Greek corporations and organizations, scholars and experts. The conference was held on 30 May at DAIS Cultural and Conference Centre.
