In the context of the Corporate Social Responsibility programme, and with a view to making its products and services available to all, Vodafone, upgraded its innovative “Speaking Phone” service, to make it compatible with handsets available in the Greek market, like Nokia E61, Nokia E65, Nokia E70, Nokia N71, Nokia N73, Nokia N80 and Nokia N91.
The service, has been available since December 2005, and dictates to the user all the information appearing on the handset display, utilising the Real Speak technology. The service was developed based on the needs of the visually impaired, and the system was tested in collaboration with the Association of Technological Advancement for the Blind.
- The service is available to all Vodafone subscribers, pre-pay and post-pay in any price plan.
- It may be activated at any Vodafone point of sale, all over the country.
- The company offers the service free of charge to all customers that will present a copy of their disability certificate (part or total blindness), certified by the competent state bodies.
- The service also comes with a -free- two page information leaflet in Braille.
Spoken functions are:
- Incoming SMS
- Letters and words when typing an SMS § Numbers per digit, in sets of two or entire numbers
- Calls (Incoming-Outgoing)
- Contacts list
- Battery status and reception signal
