Vodafone supports S.O.S. Children's Villages

On Sunday June 10th, 2006, the children of the Vari SOS Children's Village, and the City of Vari organised the 2nd "Rock, Scissors, Paper" Art Festival, to present the activities of the Creative Expression and Activity Workshops that operate in the Village, courtesy of Vodafone.

The Festival was organised at the Foundation of the Hellenic World where children exhibited their paintings and constructions, created a colourful graffiti, presented a hip-hop version of Aristophanes' comedy "Ornithes", introduced by actor Giorgos Moschides, improvised in the theatrical game entitled "Wounded nature", and finally staged a very special concert and enjoyed themselves with all the people attending. Moreover, the event included the presentation of a book entitled "Understanding children's problems" by Ms Aggeliki Gena, Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of Athens, and Mr Theologos Hatzipemos, special educator and social worker, moderated by journalist Ms Evi Fragaki.

Vodafone supports SOS Children's Villages in the creation and operation of the Expression and Creative Activity Workshops at the foundation's premises in Athens and Thessaloniki, as part of the "We care" corporate social responsibility program. There, children from the SOS villages and the greater area, learn how to express themselves creatively in different and original ways.

The SOS Children's Villages in Vari, house the following workshops:

  • Speech and visual arts workshop
  • Theatre workshop
  • Music workshop
  • New technologies workshop
  • English language workshop
