On Sunday June 8th, the children of the Vari SOS Children’s Village, and the City of Vari organised the 3rd one-day Children’s Art Festival on the subject of art and the environment, to present the activities of the Creative Expression and Activity Workshops that operate in the Village, courtesy of Vodafone.
During the Festival, that was hosted at the premises of the G. Fakanas Music School, the children of the Visual Arts Workshop exhibited their paintings and structures and also created a visual project on recycling. Children of the Music Workshop gave a concert for both children and adults. Children of the Theatre Workshop staged Aristophanes’ "Wealth" and improvised with the audience’s participation in the "Haunted camp".
This is the third year that Vodafone supports SOS Villages. In particular, in 2005, Vodafone worked with SOS Village to set up the Expression and Creative Activity Workshops, at the foundation’s premises in Athens and Thessaloniki, thus enabling children to get a deeper insight into literature, theatre, music, the visual arts, English language and new technologies. Children from the greater area also participate in the workshops, so that together they can develop their creativity and skills, guided by specialised trainers.
Moreover, a parent consultation group was launched for the first time in 2006.
The Children’s Art Festival was also organised at the SOS Village premises in Plagiari, Thessaloniki, with the participation of children from the Village and the City of Micra.
