Vodafone publishes a parent's guide to mobile telephony

24 September 2007

In order to provide detailed information to parents about the ever-increasing range of services offered by mobile telephony, and how mobile phones can be safely used by children and teenagers, Vodafone has published a Parent’s Guide to Mobile Telephony.

Given that mobile phones are now an integral part of our day-to-day lives, Vodafone has published this 30-page guide containing useful information about the services offered by mobile telephony, voice calls, SMS, camera – video functions and the option to send photos/videos, games, music clips and internet access.

The objectives in publishing the Parent's Guide to Mobile Telephony were:

  • To inform the public about the constantly developing services available via mobile phones;
  • To give parents tips and hints about how they can guide their children to use mobile phones responsibly;
  • To provide information about how to block children from accessing specific services aimed exclusively at adults.

The guide opens with information on simple topics such as the SIM card, PIN, SMS and MMS, explains the services offered by mobiles such as Vodafone live!, internet and email access, and for the first time in Greece solves queries about new issues raised by the rapid development in communications such as blogs, malicious communication, nuisance messages, spam and viruses. The Parent’s Guide to Mobile Telephony is available at all Vodafone stores.

Vodafone subscribers can also obtain this guide by sending a SMS to 1004 free of charge or an email to CR.gr@vodafone.com.
