Vodafone has been presented with the “Ecopolis 2007, Annual Environmental Policy Program Award” for its comprehensive Environmental Program, focusing on: a) Energy saving and using renewable energy sources, b) recycling, c) use of more environmentally-friendly materials. The award was presented to Vodafone’s Corporate Affairs Director, Mr Dimitris Michopoulos.

This distinction is an excellent recognition of the environmental programs that the company has been implementing from the beginning of its operation, aiming at constant improvement on the basis of measurable results.

Planning and management of Vodafone's environmental programs, directly linked with the company's environmental impact, is carried out within the context of the Environmental Management System, certified according to ISO 14001 and EMAS.

The Ecopolis Environmental Awareness Awards that were presented on June 6th, at the GAIA Natural History Museum, are the result of an initiative of the non-governmental environmental organisation Ecocity, that started three years ago. Its purpose is to promote and recognise the practical and increased environmental awareness of Scientists, Scientific Bodies, Municipalities, State Organisations, Enterprises, State Bodies and the Media.
