Vodafone Greece is extending its mobile phones and accessories recycling program to its business customers. The 25 companies already participating in the program, have placed Vodafone Greece bins in their buildings to allow mobile phones and accessories to be collected, having recognised that mobile phones should not end up in the rubbish, since they are made of materials harmful to the environment.

Vodafone Greece collaboration with its business customers on this matter seeks (a) to give a strong boost to the recycling of mobile phones and accessories in Greece and (b) to contribute to environmental protection by reducing the uncontrollable disposal of mobile phones and accessories.

Vodafone Greece was the first mobile telecommunications company in Greece, which started a nation-wide mobile phones and accessories recycling program, back in June 2003, when it was not even required by law. Mobile phones and accessories collection bins can be found at all Vodafone Greece shops and buildings nation-wide, at more than 400 locations, while in November 2005 the program was extended to cover household batteries recycling.

At the same time, in May 2007 Vodafone Greece extended its mobile phones and accessories recycling program to all "Scouts of Greece" branches, by placing an additional 400 mobile phones and accessories collection bins across all of Greece. To date, Vodafone Greece has sent for recycling more than 70,000 mobile telecommunications products and more than 5.4 tons of household batteries.

Vodafone Greece environmental programs are designed and managed via company's Environmental Management System which has received ISO 14001 and EMAS certification.
