Vodafone Greece becomes a "Messenger" in Greenpeace's energy saving campaign

07 May 2008

Vodafone Greece has been nominated a "Messenger" in Greenpeace's energy saving campaign, thereby contributing to the environmental organisation’s efforts to provide information and motivate the public to actively participate in combating climate change.

Given its communication capabilities as a mobile telecommunications company, Vodafone Greece will ensure that the 10+1 energy saving tips are conveyed to the public thereby assisting in communicating Greenpeace's optimistic message.

As part of the extended Corporate Responsibility programme it implements, Vodafone Greece has already acknowledged the importance of the climate change problem and from the start of its operations has put a series of energy saving measures in place covering all its activities/operations. From 2003 onwards, the company has also been exploiting solar energy to cover the energy demand of 123 base stations.

The "Messengers" programme helps spread news about the Greenpeace campaign and promote the energy saving tips to both Vodafone Greece employees and the general public. With the support of "Messengers", Greenpeace’s voice will be heard everywhere and everyone will be able to listen to the energy saving campaign's optimistic message, while at the same time learning about how people can contribute in combating climate change.
