Mr. Vasilis Gagatsis, Chairman of the Hellenic Football Association, spoke in 'Interview of the month' on Vodafone live! Sports about the match of the National team against Turkey, the renewal of Otto Rehhagel’s contract, Greek refereeing and the cases of Neri Castillo and Sotiris Ninis.
Exclusively for Vodafone live! 3G subscribers, the interview with Mr. Vasilis Gagatsis is available, complete, in text as well as in video form, which they can access any time on Vodafone live! Sports, provided they are on a 3G network.
On the opportunity of the match of the National Football Team against Turkey, Mr. Gagatsis said: "I believe we stand at a very good level. In its last three matches, plus the friendly game against Korea in London, the National team has shown that it is back to what all Greek sports fans have come to know it for: our National team, performing at its best, with passion, trying to win every single game. I believe this game is most crucial for our further course. If we win, and given the schedule that follows from there, we will have secured an advantage towards getting to the final round of the European league".
On the cases of Castillo and Ninis, Mr. Gagatsis said: "The chapter Neri Castillo is closed for us, since he chose and decided to play for the National team of Mexico, after saying to us that he would play for the Greek National team. Conversely, Sotiris Ninis has stated that he wishes to play for Greece because he considers it to be his homeland. That's where the difference lies. Castillo chooses Mexico, where Ninis chooses Greece".
Speaking about the renewal of the contract of the Federal coach, he notes: "There is a personal relationship with Mr. Rehhagel. And to prove this, when the German National team unconditionally surrendered to him offering earth and water, we kept him at the helm of the Greek National team. If Mr. Rehhagel decides and wishes to stay with the National team, this will be announced to everyone, will be announced to the Federation and we shall proceed to renew his contract."
