Vodafone will have a host of new handsets on display at CeBIT 2008

Hanover, 3 March 2008. Vodafone will be presenting a wide range of new mobile phone models with impressive designs and an equally impressive range of functions at CeBIT 2008. The innovative handsets being showcased cover the full range of consumer needs, from inexpensive starter models, through music phones to smart-phones with integrated navigation function.

One of the brand new models is the VDA GPS, a smartphone for active business customers weighing only 130 grams with a full QUERTY keyboard for convenient mobile working. The exclusive messaging device has an integrated GPS module, so it can also be used as a navigation device. It runs on the Windows Mobile 6 Stan-dard operating system and supports the Vodafone E-MailConnect push e-mail ser-vice. The GPRS smartphone has an advanced 2 megapixel camera and a slot for microSD memory cards. It can connect up to other devices via USB cable or Blue-tooth.

The new VPA Touch was designed for both professional and private users. It is operated via a touch-sensitive display and it also has a Windows Mobile 6 Profes-sional operating system. Weighing in at only 112 grams, the VPA Touch has a 2 megapixel camera and a slot for microSD cards. It too has automatic e-mail recep-tion with Vodafone E-MailConnect. The EDGE smartphone is W-LAN-capable and has both USB and Bluetooth interfaces.

Research in Motion (RIM) has also launched a new top-of-the-range BlackBerry® smartphone, the BlackBerry® Pearl™ 8110. It has an integrated GPS module and the Vodafone Navigator for user navigation. E-mails are instantly transferred to the handset thanks to EDGE and Vodafone E-MailConnect support. The smartphone has a 2 megapixel camera with integrated LED flash, a microSD memory card slot, plus USB and Bluetooth 2.0 interfaces for communication with other devices. The quad-band smartphone's compact dimensions and weight of only 91 grams makes it the perfect mobile companion.

Vodafone is showcasing many new mobile phone models by Sony Ericsson at this year's CeBIT. The C902 is the latest member of the Cyber-shot™ family. The 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and touch keys detects faces and automatically sets the focus. It has a stylish design, featuring a thin 10 mm metal casing and a pull-out lens cover. Music fans will love the new Sony Ericsson W980i, the new flagship of the Walkman® mobile phone family. The clamshell phone with mirror-effect surface, a second colour display and external touch-sensitive sensors looks like an upmarket MP3 player. The phone opens to reveal the keypad and a 2.2 inch display. The Walkman® phone's 8 GB memory makes it perfect for the storage of mobile music collections. It also includes a built-in FM radio transmitter for the wire-less transfer of music to the car radio. The quadband phone supports EDGE and high-speed 3G broadband. Another new model is the Sony Ericsson W890i. This Walkman® phone comes with a 2 GB MemoryStick Micro which can store up to 1,800 songs. The music phone only weighs 78 grams and it also features an ad-vanced 3.2 megapixel camera. The W890i supports 3G broadband, so it is also ideal for fast music downloads and mobile surfing. And it can be used almost anywhere in the world thanks to quadband technology.

Nokia will be delighted with the  two high-end new models in the N series, the N78 and the N96. Both of the phones have 3G broadband for high-speed data transfer, and they also have a built-in GPS module. The N96 features a 5 megapixel digital camera, and the N78 has a 3.2 megapixel camera. Both of them have a Carl Zeiss lens. The Nokia N78 will be exclusively available from Vodafone in the first 8 weeks.

April is the month when Vodafone will be exclusively launching the new Nokia 6124 classic. This compact all-round phone has a classic design and incorporates many special features. It supports 3G broadband for fast internet access. A 2 megapixel camera and a 16 million colour display make it ideal for multimedia applications. An MP3 player, UKW stereo radio and a microSD slot round off the range of features. The Nokia 6124 classic can communicate with other devices via Bluetooth or USB interface.

Vodafone will be putting the new Samsung U900 Soul designer phone on sale in May. It's a slim, lightweight and stylish product with an exclusive metallic finish and a Navi Pad for simple operation. The phone also has a professional 5 megapixel camera and access to super-fast 3G broadband for data transfer.

The new Motorola W180 and W230 were designed for newcomers. The W180 has a simplified user interface for extra-convenient text messaging. The Motorola W230 has an MP3 player with radio for music fans, and its memory can be extended to up to 2 GB with a microSD card. LG is launching a new model for the first-time buyer segment at CeBIT, the KP230 clamshell phone. It has both an external display and an internal TFT display with 65,000 colours. The KP230 can communicate with other devices via Bluetooth.

Vodafone will also be putting a series of new phones for CallYa customers in its shops after CeBIT. The Vodafone 228 will be on the shelves in April. It's an elegant slider phone that supports SMS and has a large display with 65,000 colours. Two further CallYa models will be introduced in May, the Vodafone 725 and the Voda-fone 527. Both have Bluetooth and USB interfaces, plus integrated MP3 player. The Vodafone 725 is a high-performance 3G phone with a 2 megapixel camera; and the GSM model Vodafone 527 has VGA camera.
