Vodafone shows its commitment to North Rhine-Westphalia by investing in major construction projects in Düsseldorf and Ratingen

14 August 2008

Düsseldorf, 14 August 2008. Vodafone Germany is showing just how committed it is to the company's German home base in North Rhine-Westphalia and the Düsseldorf region. Two major construction projects will be kicking off almost simultaneously as soon as all the contractual formalities are in place and planning permission has been granted. The new German headquarters is going to be built at a location in the regional capital city of Düsseldorf. It will be designed as a modern and innovative Vodafone campus that can serve as the group's "calling card" in Germany. There will be another new building at Vodafone's largest regional branch office in the neighbouring town of Ratingen-Lintorf to create a second Vodafone campus. From 2002 onwards, around 7,000 people will be working at the two sites.

"Vodafone operates in a growth industry and we're optimally equipped for the future. Creative and innovative employees need an equally creative and attractive working and living environment. They have both of these things in North Rhine-Westphalia and the Düsseldorf region," said Friedrich Joussen, CEO of Vodafone Germany.

The mobile communications success story is closely linked to D2, Vodafone and the Düsseldorf region, which is the centre of the German mobile communications industry. "We intend to continue this success story as a reliable and strong partner to our customers, our employees and the media and telecommunications location of North Rhine-Westphalia," continued Joussen.

Vodafone already has its German headquarters at "Seestern" in Düsseldorf, and it uses several other buildings in the "Seestern" complex and on Mannesmannufer. It has its West Branch Office in Ratingen. In future, 7,000 people will be working at the new sites in Düsseldorf and Ratingen-Lintorf under optimal working conditions in a modern office environment.

Vodafone is currently in constructive talks with both city authorities and further partners to prepare the way for the implementation of these two large-scale construction projects. The new buildings are scheduled for completion in 2012.
