Elegant mobile office and entertainment centre
Düsseldorf, 4 September 2008. Vodafone and RIM have made the BlackBerry mobile office even faster. The BlackBerry Bold is the first RIM smartphone to take full advantage of the benefits that Vodafone's fast mobile network has to offer. The Bold also has a high-resolution display and powerful stereo loudspeakers that make it equally impressive on the multimedia entertainment front.
BlackBerry Bold users can automatically send and receive e-mails, surf the net or watch TV programmes on the Vodafone live! portal in premium quality at speeds of up to 3.6 mbit/s in the Vodafone Germany broadband network, and they can also make phone calls at the same time. 80 percent of the German population already have access to Vodafone's modern 3G network. In conjunction with EDGE - the next generation of GPRS - which is also supported by the BlackBerry Bold, over 95 percent of German citizens can access Vodafone Germany's high-speed mobile internet.
Private customers and small-scale businesses will appreciate the fact that the Bold supports the Vodafone E-MailConnect service, which automatically sends e-mails and attachments from up to ten different e-mail accounts to the BlackBerry Bold. For example, business customers with the SuperFlat tariff (39,95 € per month) get the E-MailConnect service at no extra charge, enabling the automatic receipt of up to 300 small e-mails every month. Business customers with their own e-mail server can opt for the E-MailConnect FairFlat National Enterprise tariff for complete cost transparency and receipt of a practically unlimited number of e-mails.
The BlackBerry Bold smartphone is a genuine communication wizard that can display PDF, Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents. Even the details are easy to see thanks to the excellent resolution of 480 x 320 dpi. When used as a mobile entertainment centre, the Bold's media player delivers premiere video and image viewing in full-screen mode. Music output is via headphones (standard 3.5 mm headset jack) or the built-in stereo loudspeakers. The smartphone has 1 GB of memory, which can be expanded with optional micro SDHC cards to as much as 16 GB. A 2 mega pixel camera with flash and 5x digital zoom captures snapshots and can also record 480 x 320 pixel format videos.
The elegant smartphone is a convenient navigation device for drivers and pedestrians thanks to the integrated GPS receiver and the Vodafone Navigator. And the Bold also delivers a superior voice experience. It suppresses annoying background noise during a call and the alto and bass levels can be adapted to suit the user's preferences. Voice activated dialling enables the user to initiate calls to any number in the contact list, which is extremely practical when the hands-free function via cable or Bluetooth 2.0 is being used. In the office or home, the BlackBerry bold accesses the network via WLAN.
Prices and availability
The BlackBerry Bold Smartphone is now available from Vodafone at prices starting from EUR 79.50 in conjunction with a 24-month term contract. Without a contract, the smartphone costs € 579.90.
