Düsseldorf, 25. August 2008. Vodafone now has the solution for people who want to convert their used mobile phones into cash. A new online portal gives Vodafone customers the opportunity to sell used mobile phones that are still in good working order.
This is the first ever online selling portal for mobile phones - a service provided to customers by Vodafone, one of Germany's biggest mobile communications providers. "We're providing our customers with a convenient means of disposing of old handsets that are still in good working order," said Jürgen Wörhoff, Environmental Officer at Vodafone. Mobile phone owners know how important it is to dispose of their old mobile phones in an environmentally friendly way, but many of them don't know where.

It's easy. Simply click on the link at http://www.vodafone.de/unternehmen/verantwortung/98128.html and use the menu to enter details of mobile phone model and functions. The price that the customer would receive for the handset if he sells it via the portal is then displayed. If the customer agrees to the sale, an envelope is sent to him and the phone has to be returned in it. As soon as the phone is received, the process of payment to seller is initiated. Payments are made on the first and fifteenth of every month. Ten percent of the price for each mobile phone is donated to a selected charitable organisation. The online marketplace makes it easy for Vodafone customers to get financial compensation or a fair sale price for their old mobile phone. It's especially worthwhile selling handsets that are less than three years old via the portal. The contract of sale for the old handset is between Vodafone's partner, Greener Solutions GmbH, and the customer.
